Blogs are popping up every day. If you have recently started a Wordpress blog, I’m sure you are excited about it’s ease of use and thrilled with the fact that Google loves blogs. With the friendlier, more personable tone, blogs are experiencing huge traffic leaps and helping companies to gain the exposure they are looking for.

It’s all about getting traffic. You can have the best idea or most marketable product in the world, but without proper exposure, your website will just sit there stagnant. The first key to blogging success is to BLOG! Relevant, engaging information that is updated on a consistent basis is key. Here are some tips to blogging success:

1) Stay on topic

I used to have a pastor that was famous for saying “but I digress.” Although this may have worked for him, chasing rabbit trails is not what your blog reader will appreciate. Define your topic and stick to it. Pack the most relevant and trusted information into your blog post as possible.

2) Be authoritive
If you are going to succeed in your chosen industry or niche, be sure that you have a thorough knowledge of the topic and can speak with an authorative voice. No one wants to read regurgitated information that you have ripped off from another source. Whatever topic you choose for your site, be sure you have enough interest in the subject to keep up with the latest news on the subject. Be sure all your facts are correct. Your reputation is at stake. Hint: Wilipedia is not a trusted source of information.

3) Be relevant…even groundbreaking
Blogging is your platform to the world, use it wisely. If you are providing your readers with relevant, new ideas they will keep coming back. As stated earlier, the subject you are blogging about should ideally be one that you have direct experience with, not just a subject you think is trendy at the moment. I don’t have a Blackberry. I know nothing about them. I wouldn’t blog about one or start a site selling Blackberry accessories. Enough said.

4) Make a commitment
Create a blogging schedule. Yes, it requires commitment and discipline but your readers don’t want to return to find the same post they read last week. Occasional breaks are fine, but be careful. Your visitors are there for a reason. Give them what they are looking for.

5) Keyword saturation
If you are going to make it in the search engine rankings you will need to learn about keywords and including them naturally in the title and body of your post. In order to use your blog to achieve true marketing success, you will have to learn how to write for the web. Keywords used throughout and a post of no more than 500 words. Simple, short, and sweet.

6) Quality of writing
I have heard the advice to always proof read and use spell check. Although this is true, some of us just don’t have the knack for writing. Developing quality content and constructing grammatically correct, flowing, easy to read sentences that have nice transitions from one paragraph to the next may sound easy as can be to the seasoned writer; but what about the rest of  the world? If you know what you want to say, go ahead and put your blog post together the best you can and submit it to Partnership Marketing for editing. For a small fee, we will make sure your blog is clear, easy to read and free from grammatical errors. Having well written blog posts is also attached to your credibility. If your readers are having to battle with choppy or run-on sentences and misspelled or misused words, they will quickly find another blog to follow.

7) Promote, promote, promote!
From having an RSS feed to signing on with Twitter, Technorati, Facebook, forums, and Blog directories–Do everything you can to promote your readership. I personally love RSS feeds. I read Zenhabits.com and am notified via email and through Twitter of new blog posts and titles.

Blogs are perfect for developing a small community of followers that will turn into a large following as time goes on.

Partnership Marketing is available for your blogging and web content needs. Whether you need your blog posts reviewed and tweaked before putting them online or a full content or blog writing service, we can fulfill your needs.
